Roman shades

Soft fabric.
Defined folds.

Custom wholesale Roman shades for interiors that call for texture, tailored folds, and coordinated light control. Compare flat and hobbled styles before specifying fabric, lining, mounting, and operation.

Choose the fold style.

Brown flat Roman shade with a tailored horizontal fold pattern
Flat Roman · structured, tailored folds
Hobbled Roman shade with soft overlapping folds
Hobbled Roman · visible cascading folds

Flat Roman

A tailored appearance with a structured fold pattern. Uprise’s described construction includes dowels and face battens; confirm their appearance with the selected fabric.

Hobbled Roman

Soft, overlapping folds remain visible when the shade is lowered. Allow for fabric fullness and how a pattern will read across the folds.

Fabric & lining

Choose the decorative face fabric and lining together. The combination affects appearance, privacy, light transmission, and the finished shade’s weight.

A fabric shade planned for the room.

Roman shades bring upholstery-like texture to a window, with a fabric stack forming as the shade rises. They suit bedrooms, living areas, hospitality spaces, and other interiors where a soft treatment is part of the design.

Review the raised stack position and the clear opening the client needs. An inside mount must fit the available recess and clear handles; an outside mount needs agreed coverage above and beside the opening. A blackout lining does not eliminate light gaps around the shade.

What to include in the order review.

  1. Style, fabric, and lining.

Specify flat or hobbled, the fabric reference and color, lining requirements, and any pattern-matching priorities. Confirm material suitability for Roman construction; the Texstyle roller catalog is not a universal Roman fabric list.

  2. Measurements and mounting.

Provide dimensions using Uprise’s measuring method, plus mount type, recess depth, obstructions, and the desired coverage. Discuss the raised stack and any adjacent treatments.

  3. Operation and power.

Choose an approved operating system or discuss motorization. Automate offers low-voltage Roman motor solutions; confirm the motor, load, power supply, and controls Uprise will supply.

  4. Room and project coordination.

Include shade quantities, room labels, aligned mounting heights, matching fabrics, and the proposed control groups. Confirm current fabrication limits for each selected configuration.

Questions from the trade.

What is the difference between flat and hobbled Roman shades?

Flat Roman shades have a more tailored, structured appearance. Hobbled shades have overlapping folds that remain visible when lowered.

Can Roman shades be motorized?

Motorization is available for compatible Uprise Roman configurations. Confirm the motor, shade weight, power supply, and control requirements with our team.

Can I use any fabric from the online swatch catalog?

Fabric compatibility depends on the product and construction. Have Uprise confirm a material for Roman use before treating a roller-shade swatch as a Roman fabric option.

Does blackout lining guarantee a completely dark room?

Lining can reduce transmission through the fabric, but mounting and perimeter gaps also affect room darkening. Review the whole window application.
